PRESS RELEASE

16 December 2021

The Australian Corporate Treasury Association Limited (ACTA) in partnership with Macquare University are thrilled to announced today, the launch of its Certificate in Corporate Treasury. This program, separated into foundation and advanced units, will set a benchmark for those wanting to join, or already in the Treasury community in Australia.  This program addresses a long held gap in the market in Australia, being the first program with dedicated postgrad study in Corporate Treasury.  Our members had previously needed to study with overseas organisations and have sought a purpose-built offering for many years.

Alice Van Der Geest, President of the ACTA says “The skills learned by undertaking the Certificate in Corporate Treasury will compliment on-the-job learning to produce more rounded professionals in a quicker time.   In addition to those new to Treasury, our more experienced colleagues can also use subjects within the course to increase their own skills in the area’s needed, assisting with their own professional development and career progression. In addition to those in or joining Corporate Treasury, this Certificate will also suit those working in the broader finance profession, enabling them to broaden their knowledge base and exposure”.

“The Certificate in Corporate Treasury has been developed in close collaboration with industry and is offered in an engaging online format to provide participants with maximum flexibility to self manage their learning experience. Each module is short and sharp and can be worked through in 10-15 hours. This allows participants to dive into this learning experience when it suits them and their other commitments.”, said Professor Yvonne Breyer, Deputy Dean, Education and Employability at Macquarie Business School.

Ben Leaver, CEO ACTA said “Today we partner with one of the worlds best education institutions to provide another pathway not just for our members, but for the whole Australian Treasury Community, and future treasury professionals to be recognised as a Certified Treasurer. What the current global pandemic has taught us is that the role of Treasury has never been more important, and the vital role our members play within not just the ASX Top 200 companies, but across all SME’s who may not have a dedicated Treasury function but still use or need Treasury skills helps shape Australia’s economy.”
