Dear Colleague,

Advocacy News: BBSW Consultation & RBA Cards Consultation response

Two weeks ago Dr Guy Debelle of RBA made an important speech about Benchmarks and the review of BBSW which crystallised some issues for the treasurers present.

As a result with a sub-committee of the Technical Committee I am currently drafting a response to the current Council of Financial Regulators consultation on “Evolution of BBSW Methodology”.

Key messages FTA intends to communicate are:

FTA has an interest in interest rate benchmarks because they are key to efficient and fair allocation of capital within financial markets.

The eXchange – June Edition

This past weekend I had the pleasure of interacting face to face with the whole Board, its advisors and key management.  Our far flung Board members (8 directors in 6 states) means our monthly board meetings are held by teleconference call. Meeting in person this past weekend, was critical for quality decision making as I believe decisions are improved by team work and human interaction.

The agenda for the weekend was busy. Each board member not only contributed to formulating the agenda but also played a part in its delivery, taking turns leading discussions and sessions. Having so much to get through was challenging, but it reflected the levels of enthusiasm and passion felt by all participants. It also reflects the workload required to transform our organisation to the next level. This is a challenge the Board and management relishes, but does not take lightly.

The eXchange – May Edition

Dear Colleague,

Well here it is, hot off the press, our new, members only newsletter.

We’ve created this newsletter to provide you with interesting, up-to-date content in an easy to absorb format. We understand you all have different information requirements, so we plan to improve the newsletter over time as we learn what is of most benefit to you. To help us do that, we might ask you a few short questions every now and again to keep us on track. We promise to make it quick and easy and always respect your time – we know it’s in short supply.

This initiative, along with the new member portal and other member based improvements which are in the early stages of planning, stem from the FTA leadership having recently completed research using a member centred design process.
